On your server in 10 minutes
Try PLANKA Pro for 30 days with every feature — with your real projects, on your infrastructure. No sales call, no credit card.
1. Request your key · 2. Run docker compose · 3. Paste the key — done.
What the trial contains
- 10 users
- 50 guests
- Every Pro feature, without exception
- Self-hosted: your server, your database, your data
Requirements: a host with Docker and about 2 GB of RAM.
After 30 days
The trial ends automatically, there are no costs and nothing is deleted. Your data stays in your database, and with a Pro license you simply carry on. Take your exports while the trial is running: once the license has expired, all you can do is sign in and enter a new key.
The data on your own server is yours and stays there. The account you get here is ours to keep tidy: if no license is bought, we delete it 90 days after the trial has ended, together with the address you gave us for the license.
No server at hand?
Look at the live demo first, or let us run PLANKA for you — the hosted edition is the same product without the server.
Request your trial key
We need these details for the license — they are the same ones a purchase would ask for, so nothing is typed twice later.
The trial is for businesses, associations, public authorities and other organisations — not for private individuals.
Already running PLANKA Community?
Then you do not have to set anything up again. The trial runs on the installation you already have: same database, same volume. You swap the Docker image for the Pro one and enter your license key. Projects, boards, cards and attachments stay as they are — nothing is moved and nothing is set up twice.
How the upgrade works
- 1 Back up your database and your data volume first. That backup is your only way back later.
- 2 In your docker-compose.yml, swap the image for the Pro one, add the Valkey service and enter the license key. All your other settings stay, including your SECRET_KEY and your URL.
- 3 Run the database upgrade once. It checks your Community version first and stops without changing anything if that version is not supported. Supported are 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 — if you are on an older version, update your Community installation to one of them yourself first. If you use single sign-on, pick 2.1.1: Community 2.2 removed OIDC and deactivates the accounts that signed in through it.
- 4 Start PLANKA again. Everyone signs in with the account they already had.
You will find the full instructions with all the commands in the customer center as soon as your key arrives.
There is no way back
There is no way from Pro back to Community. The upgrade writes changes into your database that the Community version cannot handle — it will not start on it afterwards. Your only way back is the backup you made before the upgrade.
What happens after 30 days without a purchase
The instance is locked. You can still sign in and enter a license key — that is all. Boards, cards and attachments are no longer shown, not even to read. Nothing is deleted: your data stays unchanged in your own database, and you can back it up at any time with the usual Postgres tools — the Community version will not run on that backup, though. As soon as you enter a valid key, the instance works normally again.
Safer: test on a copy first
Restore your backup into a second instance and test there. Your production installation keeps running Community unchanged, and if you decide against buying, nothing has happened to it. The license applies to the domain you enter in the form above, and you can change that domain later in the customer center at any time — so a test copy does not cost you the license you might buy later.
