Every translation, every bug report and every pull request comes from people who get nothing for it. A large part of what PLANKA is today came about that way — and the 35-plus languages are entirely the work of the community.
The star count above is read from GitHub every hour. It is the most honest number we have about ourselves.
The Community edition is free — and stays free
The Community edition is the free core of PLANKA. It is a complete Kanban tool, not a cut-down preview: boards, lists, cards, comments, attachments, real-time sync, deployment with Docker.
- Under a Fair Use License. The source code is on GitHub and anybody can read it.
- Self-hosted: the data sits on your server and stays there.
- Translated into more than 35 languages, by the community.
- There is no trial that expires and no invoice that follows.
What Pro does that Community does not
Honestly: quite a lot. Community covers Kanban and covers it well. Pro does all of it, better in a number of places, and adds what organisations ask for — worker and guest roles, single sign-on over OIDC, IP fencing, custom fields, board and card templates, advanced search, PDF and HTML export, calendar and location views, recurring cards, time tracking, full support for phones and tablets, and support with a response time.

So that somebody can work on this full time. Carrying a project this size on the side works up to a point — and that point has been passed.
Revenue from Pro and Enterprise pays for development, security updates and support. The Community edition lives off that too: it is maintained because somebody is paid to maintain it.
Running the Community edition at a company?
That is fine, and we will not send you an invoice for it.
But if you need support with a response time, single sign-on, roles and updates from one hand — the things an IT department asks for sooner or later — then Pro is the answer. Thirty days to try it, no credit card and no sales call.
